The Bentley Batur Convertible, the third coachbuilt model of the modern era by Mulliner, has made its global debut at an exclusive event in Bab Al Shams, Dubai last week. With production limited to just 16 individually numbered examples, the Batur Convertible is positioned as a true collector’s item and one of the final Bentleys to feature the marque’s legendary W12 engine.
This 6.0-litre, twin-turbocharged W12 powertrain, producing 750 PS and 1,000 Nm of torque, is the most powerful iteration of the engine Bentley has ever produced. It features upgraded turbochargers, a revised intake system, and new intercoolers, delivering both performance and a fitting farewell as the W12 nears the end of its production run this summer.
The Batur Convertible represents the pinnacle of personalisation through Bentley’s Mulliner Bespoke Studio. Every vehicle is co-created with its owner, with near-limitless options for colour, material, and finish. Clients can select from Bentley’s full palette or commission entirely bespoke paintwork, including hand-painted and ombre elements. Even the cabin can feature 3D-printed rose gold, crafted in collaboration with expert goldsmiths in Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter.
The debut model, known as the Batur Convertible Engineering Car, showcases a striking Midnight Emerald exterior with high-gloss carbon fibre detailing and a distinctive grille that fades from Gloss Mandarin to Gloss Beluga. A bold Batur Racing Stripe in Gloss Porpoise is flanked by Mandarin accents, colour-matched to the interior leather.
Inside, the cabin mirrors the exterior’s colourway, combining Cumbrian Green and Porpoise leather with Mandarin stitching. The dashboard features a “guitar fade” veneer, transitioning from gloss Beluga to high-gloss carbon fibre and back again, complete with a laser-etched audio signature of the W12 engine.
Inspired by open-cockpit Bentleys of the past, including the Bacalar, the Batur Convertible adopts a wraparound two-seat layout and seamlessly blends performance, luxury, and craftsmanship. Each example will be hand-built over several months at Bentley’s carbon-neutral factory in Crewe, England.
