As the new year begins, many people reassess their health, routines and priorities. In Thames Ditton, a new fitness facility is positioning itself as part of that “New Year, New You” mindset, with a focus on structure, community and sustainable change rather than quick results.
RWC Fit, based at Old Cranleighan Sports Club, has been founded by Rupert Wilson, a coach and father who has spoken openly about his own experiences with sobriety, late-diagnosed ADHD and balancing fitness with family life. The gym was established not as a traditional commercial fitness centre, but as a small, coaching-led space aimed at people restarting or reshaping their relationship with exercise.
Wilson began coaching after a period of personal change, during which he prioritised consistency, routine and support systems. He has described sobriety as a broader lifestyle reset rather than simply giving up alcohol, with those same principles now reflected in his approach to coaching. According to Wilson, these foundations informed the creation of RWC Fit and its emphasis on accountability and realistic goal-setting.
The gym operates without many of the features commonly associated with large fitness chains. There are no mirrors, large classes or long-term contracts. Instead, RWC Fit focuses on small-group personal training, with sessions capped at six participants, alongside one-to-one personal training and online coaching. Programming centres on functional strength, mobility and habit-building designed to support everyday life.
RWC Fit also offers junior and teen coaching sessions, aimed at developing confidence, movement skills and resilience at an early age. Classes are described as scalable, allowing people of varying fitness levels to train together while following individualised guidance from coaches.
Personal training sessions start from £30, with flexible scheduling options and ongoing support outside of gym sessions through check-ins and messaging. Online coaching is available for those unable to attend in person, providing remote workouts and weekly accountability.
Located in Thames Ditton (KT7 0HB), RWC Fit reflects a wider shift within the fitness industry towards smaller, community-based spaces that prioritise long-term wellbeing over short-term transformation. As the new year prompts many to set fresh goals, the gym is positioning itself as an option for those seeking a supportive environment to build strength, confidence and routine at their own pace.
