Our hair frames our face, and we can get used to it being a contributing factor in our overall aesthetic. And so, without doubt, suffering hair loss can reshape the way we view ourselves and how we think we are viewed by others. It’s understandable how we might allow it to affect our confidence, especially perhaps in those cases where it comes about as a result of chemotherapy cancer treatment and the additional ordeal of having to deal with that too.
So, it can be reassuring to know that here in the south east. we are fortunate to have a specialist salon such as Julia Lampard just in Guildford. ‘Alternative Hair’ experts with decades of experience, combining the use of hair pieces from the finest dedicated manufacturers in the world which are then cut and meticulously styled to suit each individual client. No ‘off the shelf’ solutions here! Julia and her team appreciate perhaps more than most, just how much trepidation comes with this new scenario in their customer’s specific lives and can give comfort from the fact that they are with them for their journey. Holding their hand and skilfully equipped in the art of crafting something that, beyond everything else, allows personalities and confidence to shine through.
Tears of sadness, tales of hope
A hair stylist for more than 40 years and a wig specialist for nearly 20 of those, Julia clearly takes much pride in restoring self-assurance. “I would like to share with you a wonderful and remarkable true story” she says.
“Many years ago one of my clients, who came to me for a wig, had informed me during my consultation that she had cancer of the oesophagus and had been informed that there was nothing more medically that could be done. This lady was only early 30’s, married and with three children. At the time I just wanted to make her visit as special as possible. But when she had left the salon I ended up in heap of tears feeling so desperately sad”.
“By miracle,” she adds, “six months later the same dear lady came to visit me at the salon with her husband grinning from ear to ear announcing that she no longer had cancer of the oesophagus, and that nature had taken its course. As you can imagine I was so over the moon to hear such wonderful news and from that day forth, no matter what anyone of our clients come to us we never lose hope for a positive outcome through cancer. I feel very fortunate as so many of our clients through the years we see get back on track with their lives again and being able to put this very difficult time behind them. Thank goodness”.
“No one will ever be judged” she concludes, “We are here to support you with your story, and to share with us with our time, knowledge, expertise and a good listening ear. “It is important to us as a team that we understand that you are choosing to visit us as your hair is your Crowning Glory. “Your hair loss doesn’t define you, you can still keep your identity.”
