AS Britain has spent the last week sweltering in the blistering heatwave with highest temps reaching 34.5C, guests at the country’s top health spa are beating the misery – by escaping to a room where it really SNOWS.
The state-of-the-art facility at Champneys Forest Mere resort in Hants is proving so popular with guests, staff have had to limit the time each of them can spend cooling off!
The high tech snow room is the first of its kind in the UK and is held at a constant minus 15 degrees and the water system means it produces actual flakes of snow.
Usually it is part of the resort’s thermal poolside suite where guests can experience a range of rooms at different temperatures to help with circulation and skin cleansing.
It is also a favourite with celebrities including actress Joan Collins, who is a regular visit to Forest Mere.
As temperatures are making journeys unbearable, guests are still making a beeline for what is one of the coolest rooms in Britain.
One guest said: “We are very lucky to be here as the outside temperatures have reached record levels. The sauna, steam rooms and hot showers are empty, but everyone is putting their name down for a visit to the snow room.
“Short of sitting in the deep freeze, this is the best place to be at the moment.”
