Is it even summer if you haven’t got a glass of rosé in your hand? But with the big ‘brands’ falling out of favour with those in the know, Rupert Pritchett from Taurus Wines in the Surrey Hills guides us through the three rosés we should be buying this summer.

The name of this easy-drinking wine is the Latin translation for Ribera del Duero, but there’s nothing old and stuffy about this full-bodied mix of bramble fruit, vanilla, nutmeg and sweet spice. The palate is rich and complex with blueberry and blackberry fruit, ripe tannins and good length. Great with lamb chops, dishes with chorizo, and hearty vegetable casseroles.
Babylonstoren Mourvedre Rosé 2025
£19.99
A classic dry Provençal-style wine (made with Mourvèdre, the finest grape of Provence) with a delicately fruity flavour profile. Dry and elegant, this wine embodies flowers, gardens and the great outdoors – no wonder then that it’s the official still wine sponsor of RHS Chelsea Flower Show. It blooms with delicious raspberries and rose petals on the nose, followed by notes of rosewater, creamy rhubarb and pomegranate, rounded off with a refreshing minerality and a subtle punch of acidity.

If you haven’t heard of Pampelonne, you soon will, especially if you’re a fan of the White Lotus TV series, the latest of which is currently being filmed next to the château on Pampelonne beach. The winery and estate have been in the Gasquet-Pascaud family since the late 1700s and the current owner, Marie Pascaud, took over in 2014. In the glass it’s all fresh citrusy characters and juicy red fruit flavours. It has the classic lightly herbal note of the Provençal countryside and a good backbone of fresh acidity.
