Following a recent refurbishment of The Harbour Hotel, Guildford, I was thrilled to be invited to sample their new brunch menu at The Long Bar & Grill.
Having stayed at a number of Harbour Hotels, from seaside to city, I had high expectations of this experience … and the cosmopolitan energy of this Guildford venue did not disappoint. My partner and I arrived at The Long Bar on Saturday afternoon and were greeted with a welcome Mimosa … good start! We made ourselves comfortable at our table and sat admiring the quirky artwork and ‘Bloody Mary station’ central to the restaurant creating added theatre.
The DJ provided some buzzing beats whist we perused the menu … with my choice being Eggs Florentine and my partner, the Sausage & Egg Muffin … both were delicious. The brunch & beats experience is available every Saturday from 11.30am – 3.30pm making it perfect for someone who doesn’t do mornings!
Our next stop was the HarBAR for obligatory pre-dinner drinks and a chance to watch the world go by … I found myself reminiscing about the many good times I’ve had in this vibrant town … Braggs anyone?
When we retired to the tranquillity of the restaurant, I found myself hoping, as someone who generally eats just once a day, that the portions would be small!
I opted for the Severn & Wye Smoked Salmon to start but was beaten by my choice of main, Spring Pea & Enoki Mushroom (think risotto) … super tasty but a little on the large side. My partner opted for Sticky Beef Flour Taco followed by a Crispy Fried Chicken Burger. Both dishes were consumed effortlessly. We enjoyed a bottle of house white and having spotted ‘organic’ on the label I enjoyed it all the more. The restaurant was relaxed and overlooked a Silent Pool themed roof terrace, a perfect spot for warmer weather.
