The Beachcomber Trail is set to return to Mauritius on 25 July 2026, marking the 10th edition of the popular trail-running event that showcases the island’s rugged southern landscapes.
Held in the Sud Sauvage, or Wild South, region, the race has attracted more than 1,000 participants annually since its launch. Known for combining technical forest tracks, coastal sections and panoramic viewpoints, the event offers runners the opportunity to explore some of Mauritius’ most remote and scenic terrain.
The 2026 edition will feature three race distances: a 65km route starting from Case Noyale, a 25km course beginning at Usine d’Union, and a 10km race from the Ruines de Savinia. All routes finish at Shandrani Beachcomber Resort & Spa.
A new relay category has been introduced for the 65km race. Teams of three will be able to share the challenge across three stages: Case Noyale to Alexandra Falls (17km), Alexandra Falls to Rochester Falls (15km), and Rochester Falls to Shandrani Beachcomber (33km). Organisers say the new format is designed to make the event more accessible while encouraging teamwork and participation.
Several high-profile runners are expected to take part, including defending 65km champion Judicaël Sautron and women’s winner Amélie Huchet, who both return after notable performances in previous editions. Mauritian runner Stephen Ash is also set to compete, alongside experienced Rodrigues athletes Claudia Fong Kye and Marie Roselina Thérèse.
Environmental sustainability remains a central focus of the event. Organisers have confirmed that the race will operate without disposable cups or single-use plastics. Marketing materials will use biodegradable alternatives, while all route markings will be removed after the event to minimise environmental impact.
Karine Perrier Curé, Chief Brand & Communication Officer at Beachcomber Resorts & Hotels, said the event had become more than a race over the years, helping to build a strong community among trail runners. She added that the introduction of the relay format followed a period of reflection aimed at making the event more flexible and inclusive.
