Savills’ latest Spotlight on Wealth Trends report highlights a shift in global real estate purchasing, with buyers increasingly seeking homes that support health, wellbeing and intentional living. The study identifies space, privacy, security and access to nature as key factors influencing high-net-worth individuals when selecting properties abroad.
The report notes a move away from purchasing solely for financial growth, with buyers now prioritising lifestyle benefits that align with personal values, heritage and purpose. In particular, second homes in locations offering tranquillity and wellbeing are becoming central to these decisions.
Portugal is identified as a leading destination for international buyers, thanks to its quality of life, connectivity and stable investment environment. The Algarve, with its combination of coastal scenery and recreational facilities, is highlighted as particularly appealing.
The homes are designed to provide space, privacy and long-term quality, with features such as private pools, terraces and rooftop penthouses
At Vale do Lobo, on the Algarve, new developments reflect these trends. The Residences Vale do Lobo, the first new homes built at the resort in twenty years, include 44 properties comprising apartments, townhouses and linked villas. The homes are designed to provide space, privacy and long-term quality, with features such as private pools, terraces and rooftop penthouses. The resort also offers wellness amenities including the Royal Spa, fitness and sports coaching, medical and dental services, and a range of restaurants and cultural offerings.
Elsewhere on the Algarve coast, the co-located Marriott Residences Algarve Salgados and The Residences at The Westin Salgados Beach Resort provide branded residences with extensive on-site facilities. These include swimming pools, spas, fitness and wellness centres, golf courses and restaurants, complemented by concierge services and proximity to natural sites such as the Salgados Lagoon Nature Reserve.
Alda Filipe, Regional Director and Partner at Kronos Homes, said the combination of natural environment, wellness facilities and service is increasingly influencing buyers’ decisions. She emphasised that properties are now valued not only as financial assets but also for the long-term lifestyle experiences they provide.
Savills’ findings underline a broader global trend towards purposeful living, with international property buyers seeking homes that support health, wellbeing and personal fulfilment.
