Lady Eliza Spencer – cousin of Harry and niece of Lady Diana, along with her fiancé, South-African businessman Channing Millerd were at the Knightsbridge store of Hackstons last night (26th August) for a summer soirée to celebrate the launch of ‘Lala V’.
Lady Eliza was in attendance at Harry and Meghan’s 2018 wedding and previously at William and Kates’ in 2011 and now wedding bells loom for her and Channing. The couple got engaged earlier this year but no date or venue is yet set; the creation of this wine has kept them busy, but she did hint that wedding plans are on the ‘to-do’ list. I’m sure the wedding drink box can now be ticked.
Lady Eliza Spencer partnered with luxury drinks retailer and whisky cask specialist Hackstons to launch Lala V Côtes de Provence Rosé exclusively at the luxury drinks retailer and whisky cask specialist’s impressive flagship Knightsbridge store.
At this special summer event in front of invited press, including Premier Magazine, Lady Eliza spoke passionately about her wine journey, including her childhood connections to Provence and the development of Lala V Rosé.
Although telling the gathered attendees that public speaking was not her strength, Spencer spoke with obvious pride about the creation of Lala V including the role that Channing had played – including helping with the brand’s logo and design. She was pleased to have the wine stocked exclusively by Hackstons and described the partnership as a shared focus on quality, craftsmanship and experiences.
The wine takes its inspiration from Provence, drawing on the region’s landscape and winemaking heritage. Lala V Rosé is pale pink with salmon-coloured reflections, with aromas of ripe peach and citrus. It is described as fresh and balanced, with a soft finish.
The name Lala V combines Spencer’s childhood nickname, “Lala”, with “Vie”, the French word for life. The brand says the name reflects a philosophy of joie de vivre and is intended to evoke celebrations, shared moments and summer afternoons.
Hackstons founder Alphie Valentine said the retailer was delighted to launch the rosé and introduce it to customers, highlighting the wine’s links to Provence and its emphasis on craftsmanship.
The Hackstons Knightsbridge retail store is impressive to behold; rare, exceptional and highly sought-after bottles are presented in a suitable connoisseur boutique style, but they also offer an online shop offering whisky, wine and spirits. The retailer also specialises in whisky casks, personalised services and investment spirits.
Lala V Côtes de Provence Rosé was priced at £28 a bottle and is available both in the Knightsbridge store and through Hackstons’ online operation.
Customers can also join the Lala V mailing list for information about future vintage releases, limited allocations and invitations to private events.
The launch placed the wine within the growing premium rosé market, while linking the brand’s identity to Spencer’s personal connection with Provence and its established wine culture.
Hackstons Knightsbridge store is on 3-4 William Street, London SW1x 9HL
