Guildford Fringe Festival 2026
Guildford Fringe Festival returns from 4–19 September with two weeks of comedy, theatre, music, cabaret and family entertainment, offering plenty of reasons to make a date with Guildford this autumn.
Comedy is a major draw, with highlights including Adam Flood, Juliette Burton, Danny Buckler, Joey Page and Ali Brice, alongside offbeat shows such as CSI: Crime Scene Improvisation and Space Planet Mission: The Improvised Sci-Fi Epic.
There’s plenty beyond stand-up, too. Catch free Opera on the Balcony, enjoy the live music of Café De Swing, or head to Clandon Wood for In Juliet’s Garden. Families can choose from The Wow Bubble Show for Kids and The Smallest Sardine of the Seven Seas, while literary and theatrical offerings include One Man Poe, Lady Bracknell’s Confinement and Sarah’s War. With most shows around £10–£15, it’s an accessible celebration of Surrey’s creative scene.

Wisley Flower Show

From 1st – 6th September at RHS Garden Wisley visitors can explore their floral extravaganza with spectacular displays, specialist nurseries, shopping and much more. The National Dahlia Society Show will happen on 2 & 3 September, with A Celebration of Dahlias occurring on 4 – 6 September. Visitors may enter the Visitors Dahlia competition on 5 & 6 September, and all details will be on the website. Included in normal garden admission.

Sweetcorn Weekend at Secretts
5th & 6th September: The award-winning Secretts Farm hosts its final sweetcorn picking event of the summer on Saturday and Sunday, from 11am to 4pm. Visitors can pick sweetcorn, join a garden gnome hunt, meet reptiles, try circus skills and enjoy children’s entertainment. Food, drinks, seating and a marquee for wet weather will also be available.

9th September: A concert featuring Max Richter’s Recomposed: Vivaldi – The Four Seasons will take place on 9 September at Guildford Cathedral. The programme reworks Vivaldi’s celebrated 18th-century cycle using contemporary minimalist techniques. The performance will be given by Mystery Ensemble at the cathedral.

Concours of Elegance returns to Hampton Court Palace
Concours of Elegance returns to Hampton Court Palace from Friday 4 to Sunday 6 September 2026. Visitors can see a selection of 80 rare and collectible cars from around the world, alongside displays from car clubs and specialist exhibitors. The event also features the Club Trophy, Junior Concours and Thirty Under 30, with activities across the weekend. A dedicated Vauxhall 30-98 display and Maserati design showcase are among the announced features. The concours cars will be presented on the Palace grounds.
The exclusive Concours of Elegance Hospitality Enclosure is on the East front lawn of the Palace. A stunning marquee and garden, incorporating a private lounge area, provides guests with a perfect view of the cars.

Mirroring Nature with artist Freddie Yauner
On Saturday 26 September (10.30 – 1pm) you can join artist Freddie Yauner for a unique hands-on workshop exploring new ways of seeing the natural world through his extraordinary mirrored masks.
During this creative workshop, Freddie will introduce participants to his acclaimed What I’m Looking At mirrored masks before leading a guided walk through the beautiful woodland and grounds surrounding Watts Gallery. Using the masks, you’ll capture striking video footage that transforms familiar landscapes into surprising and immersive moving images.

Currently on display until January: Watts Gallery presents a major exhibition celebrating William Morris, one of Britain’s most influential designers.
The Art of Wallpaper: Morris & Co. is a vibrant exhibition exploring the beauty, craftsmanship and enduring appeal of William Morris’s iconic designs. The exhibition brings together more than 30 original wallpapers from the archives of Morris & Co. and offers a rare opportunity to see original, much-loved and well-known designs. Visitors will be able to get up close to original wallpaper and marvel at meticulous hand-printing techniques.

The Lost Gardens of Lobsteropolis
Artist Philip Colbert’s first UK museum exhibition, The Lost Gardens of Lobsteropolis, is on at Lightbox Gallery & Museum, Woking, until 1 November 2026. The immersive exhibition features paintings, sculptures and large-scale artworks inspired by mythology, Pop Art and digital culture, with Colbert’s signature lobster character appearing throughout the display.

Open House Festival 2026

Open House Festival is a London-wide festival that opens up and celebrates the city’s built environment. Every year, buildings and other sites across all 33 London boroughs open to the public, so that Londoners can explore them for free. The 2026 festival will take place 12-20 September and will be the 35th edition.
There are guided tours, walking tours and talks – and properties on view include PreFabs, homes of composers, ‘Star Wars’ London, ‘Sex on the City’ Covent Garden and inside the English National Ballet.

The National Portrait Gallery will mark the centenary of Marilyn Monroe’s birth with Marilyn Monroe: A Portrait, running until 6 September 2026. The exhibition will explore her life, career and cultural legacy through portraits by leading photographers and artists, including Andy Warhol, Pauline Boty and Richard Avedon. It will also feature previously unseen photographs and examine Monroe’s role in shaping her public image.

Electra/Persona arrives at the National Theatre from 19 August, combining ancient Greek tragedy with modern psychological drama. Henry Moore: Monumental Nature

A landmark exhibition of Moore’s work across Kew Gardens
Kew Gardens hosts the largest outdoor presentation of Henry Moore’s work, uniting art and nature across its iconic landscapes. Around 30 monumental sculptures, spanning nearly 70 years, are placed in dialogue with trees and historic vistas. Indoors, the Shirley Sherwood Gallery shows 90+ smaller works and botanical paintings, exploring Moore’s fascination with growth, form and the natural world. Expect an immersive, large-scale journey blending sculpture with living collections.

Cecily Brown presents a exhibition at Serpentine Gallery in Kensington Gardens, featuring paintings inspired by the site’s landscape and park life. The show includes newly commissioned works alongside pieces dating from 2001 and recent monotypes and drawings. Brown explores scale, colour and recurring motifs, including couples, woodland scenes and unsettling nature walks. The exhibition reflects early influences such as English landscapes and children’s illustrations, while marking her first UK solo since 2005 and a return after three decades in New York.
