Comedian Lucy Porter will bring her latest stand-up tour ‘Let Yourself Go’ to Dorking Halls on Friday 19 September, with a new show inspired by an unexpected online comment following one of her recent television appearances.
The performance stems from a YouTube comment Porter spotted after appearing on Celebrity Antiques Road Trip. The observation prompted her to reflect on how her career and outlook have evolved since her earlier television appearances on shows including Mock the Week and Never Mind the Buzzcocks. The new material explores themes of ageing, changing priorities and embracing life’s inevitable shifts, with Porter approaching the subject through her trademark observational humour.

Porter has been a familiar face on British television for more than two decades, appearing on a wide range of comedy and entertainment programmes. Her panel show credits include QI, hosted by both Stephen Fry and Sandi Toksvig, as well as Have I Got News for You, Would I Lie to You? and Mock the Week.
Alongside her comedy career, Porter has also worked extensively as an actor. Her television roles include a stint in BBC One’s EastEnders, while on stage she appeared in the acclaimed production of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, which toured Edinburgh before transferring to London.
Away from stand-up, Porter is a passionate quiz enthusiast. She co-hosts the podcast Fingers on Buzzers with Jenny Ryan, better known to television audiences as The Vixen from The Chase. The pair have also published their first quiz book together. Porter has enjoyed success as a contestant herself, winning Pointless and being crowned Celebrity Mastermind Champion of Champions.
Her voice is also well known to BBC Radio 4 listeners, having appeared in programmes including The News Quiz, The Now Show, The Unbelievable Truth and Just a Minute. She also wrote and starred in her own Radio 4 series, In the Family Way.
Porter is also a board member of Bristol’s annual Slapstick Festival, reflecting her longstanding interest in the history of comedy. Her latest tour begins in February before arriving in Dorking in September.
