Still sexy at 60! Yes, let’s wish a very Happy Birthday to the E-Type Jaguar.. a car so sought after that a specialist company now hand builds versions entirely engineered for 21st century enjoyment…
Enzo Ferrari is famously quoted as once saying that he considered the E-Type “the most beautiful car in the world”. It’s hard to believe that Jaguar’s classic design is now 60 years old (Happy Birthday to the E-Type), and it remains arguably the prettiest car to ever emerge from a British production line. So it wasn’t a difficult decision to feature one on Premier Magazine’s front cover – in celebration, modelled alongside the equally beautiful Laura Hamilton (pictured above) as part of a fashion shoot to showcase some of Surrey’s finest independent fashion retailers.
Always a head-turner, in aesthetic terms its style still stands head and shoulders above anything on 21st century roads, even if the mechanicals under that beautiful body are six decades old. But imagine having one that’s been hand-built for the modern world, with all the benefits of that iconic look yet under-pinned by up-to–the-minute engineering. That’s the mouth-watering prospect available through a specialist British company…
Formed in 1982, Eagle E-Types has dedicated itself to the bespoke ‘remanufacture level’ restoration and engineering of the Jaguar E-Type and could be considered to be the global leader in the restoration of these classics. It has achieved this singular feat by focusing the entire company on the development of the Eagle E-Type, which it describes as the most exclusive hand-built car in the world.
This process of developing and engineering just this model also led the company to be able to offer sympathetic upgrades and preparation to the Jaguar E-Types which it offers for sale.
The company has assembled a small, dedicated team of craftsmen – all experts in their respective fields, and this is evident in the level of care and attention to detail offered in the preparation of every Jaguar E-Type that passes through their workshops.
Their aim is to offer the joy of owning a beautiful classic with full and complete confidence in the reliability and performance of the car. Plus an ongoing policy of continuous development and improvement means that a range of enhancements and upgrades is available to clients, designed to complement the original spirit of this legendary motor car.
The classic E-Type
Eagle has a number of existing original or restored examples on its books, and says that regardless of whether they are original or restored versions, they are all in first-class condition and the absolute best available. Any of these cars can be further upgraded to suit personal requirements perfectly.
Historically for the last 20 years, the best Jaguar E-types have steadily risen in value and allow their owners to enjoy an appreciating asset.
Then there are the fully bespoke ‘better than new’ E-Type roadster examples which the company builds completely to suit each individual. These are very exclusive (it only has the capacity to build two per year) and it normally supplies the donor car. They are based around an entirely new steel body that these experts build themselves. Less than 30 of these have been manufactured to date so they are extremely exclusive.
Speedster and Low Drag GT
The company also offers two exciting new additions to Jaguar’s original range of Coupé, 2+2 and Roadster that is its ‘Speedster’ and Low Drag GT. Eagle says that the Speedster is an example of what we can really achieve with a Jaguar E-Type and stakes the claim of being ‘the most exclusive hand-built car in the world’.
The Speedster project came about after a request from a client for ‘something a bit extra special’. It was initially built as a ‘one-off’ but after much acclaim when it was revealed, Eagle decided to build some more to a very limited number. The Speedster has been publicly proclaimed several times by Jeremy Clarkson to be his favourite car of all time.
