Last night (23rd September) Bentley unveiled the new Bentley Torcal, its first fully electric car and the fourth model line in the luxury British marque’s range. Designed, engineered and built at Bentley’s Crewe headquarters, the Torcal combines an all-electric powertrain with the handcrafted interiors and luxury technology associated with the brand.
The five-metre-long electric luxury SUV will be available in two versions from launch: the core Torcal and the more performance-focused Torcal S.
Bentley Torcal performance and power
The standard Bentley Torcal produces 821 PS and 1,194 Nm of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds. Its top speed is 155 mph.
The Bentley Torcal S increases output to 888 PS and 1,350 Nm of torque when Launch Control is activated. It can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds, with a top speed of 162 mph.
Both versions use two permanent magnet synchronous electric motors. Bentley says the Torcal delivers the highest torque of any Bentley produced to date.
The electric SUV also introduces fully active suspension to Bentley’s model range. Adaptive two-valve dampers can independently respond to road and driving conditions, while electronic all-wheel steering allows rear steering angles of up to five degrees.
Bentley Torcal range and charging
The Torcal uses an 800V, 113kWh lithium-ion battery and has a claimed range of up to 375 miles (600km) under the WLTP cycle.
Bentley says the electric SUV can charge from 10 to 80 per cent in less than 20 minutes when using a 400kW charger. Around 100 miles of range can be added in seven minutes under the company’s stated charging conditions.
The Torcal also has a 460-litre boot and a 90-litre front storage compartment.
Luxury interior and technology
Inside, the Bentley Torcal features 16-way adjustable front seats with heating, ventilation, adjustable bolsters and massage functions. A powered folding three-person rear seat is also available.
The cabin introduces new sustainable materials, including a 100 per cent Merino wool automotive fabric developed with Somerset-based Fox Brothers. Bentley says the material is certified under the Responsible Wool Standard.

Other new finishes include Ombré Walnut, made from responsibly sourced walnut off-cuts and recycled paper, and Sunburst Aluminium.
Technology includes curved OLED displays, facial recognition, a mobile phone key and an augmented-reality head-up display. The Torcal also uses 25 radars, sensors and cameras to support driving, parking and manoeuvring functions.
Bentley Torcal sound and driving modes
Despite its electric powertrain, the Torcal features a bespoke soundscape called the Bentley Dynamic Symphony. It uses live instruments including drums, viola and bass guitar, with the sound designed around the rhythm of Bentley’s V8 engines.
Four Experience Modes – Bentley, Comfort, Sport and Refresh – alter elements including the vehicle’s chassis, lighting, sound, climate and digital information.
The Torcal S adds black exterior brightware and mirror caps, dark rear lamps, sports styling, red brake calipers, sports pedals and Piano Black veneer as standard.
Bentley says the Torcal is intended to combine its established focus on craftsmanship and comfort with electric vehicle technology, marking a new stage in the development of its model range.
