The strawberries are ripe, the shades are on, and even the sun is shining – That quintessentially British summer event, Wimbledon fortnight has arrived at last. And from horse-racing to Henley, horsepower to flower power the upcoming few days offer so much more to enjoy too.
1 – 7 July: Hampton Court Palace hosts The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS)’s largest flower festival.
Set amid the grounds of the historic Hampton Court Palace, this event, supported by Viking, will bring a festival of flowers to London’s doorstep. A stellar line-up of colour and intrigue will include a blushing field of Dahlia ‘Mendoza’, a woodland wonderland and a lavender display, and also on the menu will be a range of culinary experiences including The Wild Garden Banquet with Merlin Labron-Johnson and foraging for wild ingredients, and workshops including calligraphy, apothecary and floral artistry, plus the power of floral essence in wellbeing. The Main Stage will see familiar faces including Kelly Brook, Joe Swift and Adam Frost offering advice and sharing gardening antics.
From 1st to 14th July the world famous grass court tournament looks set to serve up another year of breathtaking games, exceptional hospitality and a grand atmosphere of British sporting tradition.
As part of Sandown Park’s Summer Festival, the 6th July Coral-Eclipse Day is the pinnacle of the race course’s racing and social calendar. Regarded as one of the most spectacular events in the racing season, it ranks among the best flat racing days in the country and features the longest sponsorship of Group 1 racing in Britain.

Running from 3rd to 7th July, what could represent a quintessentially British summer more than the Henley Royal Regatta. Undoubtedly the best known regatta in the world and it holds a unique place in the respect and affection of all oarsmen – both active and retired. Founded in 1839, it is famous both as a great sporting occasion and as a social event. People come from all over the world to attend, either as competitors or as spectators.
From the 4th to the 7th of July, the beautiful Goodwood Estate in West Sussex resounds to the growl of horsepower as The Festival of Speed not only thrills an on-looking crowd of car enthusiasts, but visitors also get to stroll around numerous stands and view latest models from some of the biggest names in the automotive industry.
