As the British summer social calendar gathers pace, a mere rain storm won’t put a halt to proceedings. But what is there to look forward to this coming week?
Hampton Court Palace Festival
Held at the beautiful Hampton Court Palace, Surrey – this series of special and unique open-air concerts enables fans to enjoy a range of excellent artists performing in a 3,000-seat auditorium in Base Court, set against the backdrop of Henry VIII’s magnificent Tudor Palace.
This week will see Caro Emerald (12th), followed by Nile Rodgers & Chic (14th-15th).
Next week is the turn of Tears for Fears and Kylie, before Michael Ball & Alfie Boe round things off with a fireworks finale (22nd).
Attendees will arrive at the sumptuous Palace Gardens to enjoy a spot of picnicking. This year, the festival’s picnics will be provided by Fortnum & Mason. Full details of the dates each artist performs is available on the website.
Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition
On until 12 August, the British summer social calendar would not be complete without this – the largest open-submission art exhibition in the world. Held at The Royal Academy of Arts, Piccadilly. More details on their website.
The Guildford Shakespeare Company Open-Air Season 2019 gets underway on the 13th June (until 27 July) with a performance of Twelfth Night
in the beautiful gardens of Guildford Castle.

Randox Health Gentlemen’s Day
What British summer social calendar would be complete without a bit of horse racing? Sandown Park Racecourse, Esher plays host to The Randox Health Gentleman’s Day on Saturday (15th June). The Brooklands Double Twelve Motorsport Festival
If you prefer your horsepower with wheels rather than legs, the Brooklands Double Twelve Motorsport Festival at Brooklands Museum, Weybridge (15th-16th) is a two-day extravaganza that features Motoring Competitions, the Test Hill Challenge, great food, music and entertainment for the whole family.
Dunsfold Wings & Wheels
An event that is also on this coming weekend (15 – 16 June) is the long-established Wings & Wheels which combines amazing cars with a breathtaking air show.. and lots more besides. www.wingsandwheels.net
The Cartier Queen’s Cup Final 2019
On 16th June Guards Polo Club, Windsor Great Park will host the thrilling final of the Cartier Queen’s Cup Tournament – which brings together a combination of fast-paced polo and first-class hospitality.
Add in Cartier’s always gorgeous guest list and a day that is historically attended by HM The Queen and this becomes one of the standout events of the British summer social season.
