Premier Magazine’s Sara Dower travels to Sunningdale to sample a festive afternoon tea in the hotel that was the pre-wedding choice of Prince Harry.
Christmas is all about treating yourself, so why not book a champagne afternoon tea at Coworth Park (part of the Dorchester Group)?
It can only be described as a sublime twinkling festive treat, held in the drawing room of this contemporary elegant 5-star hotel. The moment you enter its warm welcoming doors you get the feeling they’ve been expecting you.
Setting the festive scene
The tea itself is set in the drawing room of the hotel with an accompanying cosy roaring fire with views overlooking the beautiful grounds from the conservatory setting, and offers a selection of melt-in-the-mouth pastries consisting of the hotel’s heavenly seasonal ‘signature park chocolate cherry yule log’, iced fruit cake and clementine ginger choux bun, fruit and plain scones and a divine selection of sandwiches. Throughout this wonderful experience, I found the service to be impeccable.
Staff and service suitable for royalty
The staff really want you to relax into the moment and enjoy the treat. They will even box up any leftovers for you to take away! It’s no wonder this is where Prince Harry chose to spend the evening before his wedding to Meghan Markle in ‘The Dower House’ a 17th-century cottage set hidden amongst the manicured grounds. Go and experience the Coworth charm yourself; you won’t be disappointed.
COWORTH PARK is located in the heart of the Berkshire countryside, but only just over ten minutes drive from Ascot railway station
